The first rumor on the upcoming Treo 610 has been very contradictive. Yes, it's hard to believe palmOne/HandSpring is going to substitute its very successful smartphone very soon, especially if the details on this are showing up only now and not a month or two ago.
Nevertheless, the rumor does exist and with the new information we have it doesn't sound that unbelievable. The point is BargainPDA has published some details of the Treo 610 in their price watch catalogue. I contacted BargainPDA and they said the source is very reliable, though they couldn’t reveal it.
The new Treo 610 is an update to the successful Treo 600 Phone from HandSpring and will be free of its main disadvantages – low-res screen, lack of wireless connectivity and low memory. The Treo 610 will have a hi-res screen, and though exact spec is yet unavailable we can anticipate it to be 320 x 320 pixel, not 320 x 480 pixel.
The smartphone will also be equipped with a larger amount of RAM. At the moment it is not known whether it will be, say, 32 MB or more, but the company won’t disappoint its customers, that’s for sure. Another new feature is the built-in Bluetooth, which will enable the Treo 610 to communicate with other mobile devices supporting the technology. The initial release date of the handset is slated on March 1.
