MSMobiles is at it again. Orange have denied that the e200 has been or will be withdrawn from sale. They do not acknowledge problems with the product, and do not plan to recall it (quite rightly so, since the problems so far look to be fixable with firmware updates). They are also taking the posting of false allegations suggesting anything like this very seriously, and are considering whether to take any action.
Fine. There's a story in that, sure. I do take the view that all of this could have been avoided by not posting excessively emotional articles in the first place. Not MSMobiles - they have pulled the offending news item (just like their previous one), but instead of keeping quiet, or just reporting the facts, they've posted this article. Basically, it's a ridiculous article that only serves to illustrate where MSMobiles is going wrong. They have made a point of telling everyone that they're the people who made the allegations - without having been told for sure, although it's pretty likely - and highlighted that "Orange is not aware of customer complaints regarding software faults."
An apology to the community at large and a retraction of the article.. okay that I can handle. What strikes me as ridiculous here is that they're trying to turn it into another story that highlights themselves as the heroes.. that they are making Orange aware of the problems. I doubt that. Really seriously. Orange will probably look mainly at their helpdesk reports, and perhaps look into a few forums like MoDaCo, but I don't think they'll be too worried about MSMobiles. This is the second seriously flawed article their about their new mobile phone in only a few days, and the second to be pulled. Not a very reliable source for Orange SPV e200 news, then! I know that my own respect for MSMobiles is reducing considerably as this story drags on ...
In other (better) news, PPCW.NET have published an article about the new Mitac Pocket PC with inbuilt GPS. Some of our forums users - especially Noel - will be very interested in this, and no doubt will be hoping for a Pocket PC Phone Edition with inbuilt soon!
