Forum user recrem takes a major plunge and comes up trumps with an unofficial WM2003SE ROM. Read on to hear his views...
This is the question all of us XDA II geeks will be pondering, now that WM2003SE has been released through the hard efforts from the guys at xda-developers!

For me, the decision was easy as I just had to have a stable OS with screen rotation. I do a lot of work with Pocket Excel, and constantly refer to technical service manuals using Adobe Reader. Landscape mode displays much more data on the screen than we're all use to! This means less scrolling of the screen...

The second reason to upgrade was to ensure I was up to date with current software. Everything new is now designed for WM2k3SE, and to get the full use of the software, one needs SE!

Thirdly, I have heard that the BT is far more stable, and shouldn't have problems bonding with other devices. Considering I have no BT devices as yet, I haven't had a chance to test this.

So, what are my thoughts now I have had a chance to play? I like the new features, especially the addition of MMS messaging to the "New" button under messaging. There is support for POP email accounts and seems easy to set up - with a new program called "EmailWiz".

There is a "Profile" today screen plug-in to switch between BT headset en /disable - make it easier to switch profiles.

All in all, the main difference is having a landscape screen. Everything else has the same WM2003 look and feel.

Should others upgrade? Most Certainly! Just remember to back up your origional ROM first! There will be a few WM2003SE versions out soon, so if you want to wait and find one that suits you - sit back and watch. Otherwise, Sin's package is Great. He is working on another package to provide additional tools and support - which looks very promising!

To upgrade or not is your decision. I have made mine and am really happy!
