The successor to the very ugly and very incompetent HP6300 series has been semi announced/leaked.

After yesterdays huge announcement by T-Mobile (read more here), it seems information is being leaked about the successor to the HP 6300 series, which will be known as the HP iPaq hw6500 Mobile Messenger.  The pictures I have seen remind me very much of the Palm Treo 600 series, given the phones built in keyboard and the square screen.  It is also important to note that this is the first square screened Windows Mobile PDA that I know of.

The device reportedly has the following specifications:

  • Bluetooth,
  • WiFi,
  • GSM, GPRS and EDGE,
  • Integrated camer with light,
  • 320x320 screen.

I have to admit this is a step up in comparison to the 6300 series, but given yesterdays announcement, it may be too little too late.  This device will likely appear (especially in the target market) earlier that the MDA IV, but most folks (like me) will hold out for the better and brighter MDA IV.
