Matt M does not miss his MSN Messenger enough on the QTek, but ...

For those of you who are missing MSN Messenger on your HTC Canary based QTek 7070, you can now download a QTek version of the Smartphone update for MSN Messenger. There's no other updates included - just like the update offered by Carrier Devices and PPCW.NET for the i-mate Smartphone - but it will at least fix your MSN Messenger.

You can download it from here. The site is in Swedish, but includes the following disclaimer in English:

This update is only for Swedish sold Qtek 7070 with software version 1.42.9.2 or 1.50.9.1. To check what version you have press Programs>More>Settings>About, you find the information under ROM update versions. If you try to update with another software version it could damage your Qtek 7070.

I will make a note here that I previously upgraded my QTek to the 1.50.9.1 ROM offered at this website without issue (other than a little workaround to force my phone to accept a ROM from a different "flavour" of QTek 7070). However, we do not necessarily recommend that others do so, and it's most certainly at your own risk. Such upgrades are not always advisable - especially if you're happy with your current functionality.

I won't be doing the update, mainly because I found MSN Messenger quite irritating on the QTek 7070, but also because there's no additional functionality or fixes included. Besides, MSN Messenger works quite fine on my XDA II, and is far more usable for people like myself who aren't particularly fast with the keypad.
