In good news for current Windows Mobile 5 users, some of last years later and undoubtedly highly popular models (ie:, TyTN) are getting a free Windows Mobile 6 upgrade after all. The northern European partner of HTC - QTEK - has confirmed free upgrades for the following units:

HTC TyTN (Jasjam, Dopod 838Pro)

HTC P3300 (Dopod P800W)
-
HTC Advantage (Dopod U1000)
-
HTC S620 (Think Samsung Blackjack)
-
HTC P4350 (TyTN, sans 3G)
The upgrades are expected to roll out during Winter, the question now is simply how long until the official HTC announcement of the upgrades. With HTC's partners such as QTEK, Dopod, Cingular all rolling out free upgrades to Windows Mobile 6 it seems increasingly like for HTC branded WM6 ROMS to follow suite. Although given that HTC only last week acknowledges GPS functionality in its HTC Trinity line, I wouldn't be holding my breath for an announcement too soon.
