I want to take the opportunity to wish you all a very happy, auspicious, and above all safe New Year. It's been a really great year as far as we're concerned, with the website having run for 4 months now - 2 of those in a fully "Live" state at Webcentral.
Since moving to Webcentral and going into "live" mode, we've had the following statistics of note:
39 registered users in the Forums
We've had 1851 posts
Of those, I account for 48% of all posts (Phew! That's a lot of posting!)
We've transferred 3Gb of data
There's been 486,072 hits
A grand total 26,368 visits to our site
Naturally there are other statistics, but those are the ones I feel are of most interest. Those statistics are pretty low, until you consider that:
- We're an Australian site
- We've only been running fully since November
- And we've only just started to get a momentum going!
Overall, I'm very proud of our achievement so far. We've helped - and will continue to help - many different people, some of whom are very valued members of our little community. And the community we're building is what I'm proudest of. Everyone helping everyone, sharing common interests and bonds. This is great stuff.
I want to thank all of our users - registered or otherwise - who've made possible what we've achieved so far. We plan to keep improving on the site and what we offer, while keeping the site free for general use. We have plenty of plans - most of which we'll keep under wraps - for improving both the site and our ability to do reviews, and we hope to see them all come to fruition as early as possible. All of which we feel you'll welcome.
Possibly the most exciting development, of course, was the arrival of the O2 XDA II. What a busy two weeks it's been, but so far our consensus is that - in spite of the (reasonably minor) bugs we've encountered so far, it's been well worth the price. Now that we're promoting our community based support of the XDA II - especially for Australian users, but international users are more than welcome - we hope to see our little XDA II community expand more and more... as well as hopefully adding owners of other devices (such as the XPhone) to the fold.
Anyway, enough of my rambling. Enjoy your various New Year's Eve parties and whatnot, keep your XDA II or other PDA's and phones away from water, alcohol, and people who like to smash shiny things to celebrate the New Year, but most of all - be safe, be happy, and see you in 2004!
Reciprocating our New Year's wishes? Want to sing Auld Lang Syne? Have a tale to tell about your XDA II's misadventure at an NYE2003 party? Discuss it in the
