Hi guys, I've given up playing World of Warcraft which means I have more time on my hands these days to play with gadgets!
Plantronics send me their new (in Australia at least) Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo Bluetooth Headset to try out 2 weeks ago.
I'd give it an 8/10.
Check it out via this YouTube Link and let us know what you think:

Please ignore my try-hard dance moves...I wasn't even drunk!

| Damn, I thought from the title that it was a BT headset that had a video viewing attachment. |

Mike
Look here for my articles and hardware & software that I recommend.
The Doomsday Clock - It's five minutes to midnight - think about it... do something about it!
Psion II CM -> Psion II XP -> Psion II LZ -> Psion 3 -> Psion 5 -> O2 Xda II -> O2 Xda IIi -> Psion 5 -> O2 Xda II + Nokia 3310 -> Dell Inspiron 9400 running Ubuntu + Nokia 6234 (no more Windows Mobile for me!)
My new device is Linux based and it doesn't include a camera, a phone or an MS operating system! Oh, and I also have a Topfield PVRt, a TomTom ONE and a Wii - all of which also use nice, stable Linux... luxury! |

Posted By palah on 04 Apr 2008 1:57 PM Ok how would you rate against the Blueant Z9? In terms of full stereo bluetooth capabilities you can't compare because the Z9 wasn't made for this.
But in terms of mono standalone bluetooth headset, the Z9 fits better on my ear. Without the clip, the 855 doesn't sit well inside my ear and is prone to falling out. This may just be a personal thing.
Oh and as mentioned the 855 worked straight away with Cyberon Voice Commander so BIG plus.

MVC 1.6 doesn't work properly on the 8502. No mic options makes it pretty hard to test why.
Cyberon Voice Commander does not come standard on the 8502. I downloaded it from XDA-Developers and it is fantastic!

Interesting as all reviews i have read bag it against MVC... but is it included in a 02 Orbit cooked rom about to install so will give it a go... suppose with changing hardware on newer phones older programs/bluetooth headsets etc may not work as they could... hows the 855 worth buying?

For me, I don't like the in-ear concept. But that's me. Prefer to have something hanging on my ear. But if you don't mind it, then yes I would recommend the 855 Plantronics. Do you have your Orbit yet? |

Do you have your Orbit yet? Yeah 02 XDA Orbit is up and running - very stable plus surprisingly fast on a cooked WM6.1 ROM ... the Z9 now works over bluetooth on MVC v1.6 uk really well so go figure - did not work on 02 Atom, Treo 750 but working great on Orbit ... these are really good PDA's 2.8 Screen, in-built GPS with agps, BT 2.0 and only 129g with battery... happy with PDA, happy with Z9 ... so can now wait and see what the Xperia X1, Atom V & Zinc II, Nokia N96 are like but they would need to be special as the Orbit & Z9 do all i need |

Palah grats on the Orbit! Yeah it's weird how MVC works on some gadgets and not that well on others. |
