The honeymoon is over between me and my Jawbone. I agree with panfa1, it's the best BT headset I have used.... except for one little niggle I have discovered in the past 2 trips home. It'll do voice dialling with Voice Command, no problem. The number will be recognised and dialled, no problem. The phone will ring and the call connected, all no problem. Sound is diverted to the headset, sweet. About 3 seconds into the call though - one problem - the Jawbone actually turns itself off! Actually turns off. The call is then transferred back to speakerphone. I have to press and hold the power button to get the Jawbone to turn back on.

I can re-start the Jawbone and re-create the same scenario a dozen times. I have reset it a dozen times ... I have paired, deleted pairings and re-paired till the cows come home. Same result every time. I thought maybe it's not charged properly. Charged for 12 hours and re-did experiments. No such luck. I thought maybe it's my new phone. Nope. I've tried another BT set - the Blueant X3 - it works as it should. So .... it's got to be the Jawbone.

It's got me stumped I must admit. These things are so simple .... only 2 buttons! Anyone got any ideas?

Never encountered the problem - and sometimes I chat for ages (eg the entire length of the F3). I suppose it could be a faulty unit. The folks at Jawbone support are fairly helpful, judging by responses I got to my questions before purchasing.

I've put an enquiry through to their Customer Support section, so we'll see.

Hi panfa1,

Yeah, I did. They basically said there's a problem with Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 that iscausing their device to turn off. I'll quote their email:

"Thank you for your email. We're very sorry for the delay in responding.

There are known issues with Microsoft Voice Command v1.6 with many devices. In our research, we found one HTC model, not yours, that had issues.

Since this issue only happens when Voice Command is used, I can identify it as a Voice Command issue. Please contact Microsoft to address this issue. Also, you may wish to contact HTC to see if they have a fix for you.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful."

So that basically puts it to bed. I'll upgrade MVC when it ever gets an upgrade, and I'm keeping the Jawbone to play with another phone, but it's an expensive lesson.

That would explain why I've never had the problem. The Pearl does not use Microsoft Voice Command.

Something else I discovered the other day - providing the mike sensor is touching my face, the Jawbone will pick up the command even if I speak quietly (and here I was speaking very LOUDLY and enunciating very CLEARLY).

Hey all,
After a little advice.  I am starting to use a VOIP softphone on the PC and need to find a decient bluetooth headset.

Currently I am using a blueant X5 but I get a complaint every call that it sounds like Im shouting at the phone from the other side of a football field. How is the jawbone at the other end of the conversation?  Or is there a headset that can be recommended that will keep my audio clear (and still have money in my pocket LOL)?

Cheers

Big Al

There's a new version of the Jawbone out this week. Slimmer and supposed to be as good or better than the previous incarnation.

I'll have one here soon (a trip to Sydney in a few weeks for the opening of the Apple store) so I'll do a mini review.

I'd certainly be interested in reading that.
