So what's everyones view on the new offering(s) from HTC? i say offering(s) cos while we've only had an announcement for one, theres specs floating around for another couple. I think it's nice to finally see them on windows mobile with iphone bashing devices and interfaces.
The HTC Diamond is all over their website ( http://www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=46286 )at the moment sporting their latest TouchFlo3D. Is anyone else taken back by this device? It has an accelerometer, no doubt use for screen rotations, but one fine thing they're using it for is to silence phone calls (your phone is on the desk, flip it screen down to silence it) they also have a nice game based around it to, which is cool and all the other recent trimmings, it seems like just a tricked out P3470. The browser they're using in TouchFlo3D looks like opera 9.5 mobile customised by HTC, sweeeet! Youtube integration, that's nice. It all just seems to generally look nice and work well and the Diamond really does look pretty awesome. Oh, it has a tempered glass screen and we're finally on VGA screens.
Then theres the raphael, all the diamond had, with a slide out keyboard and rumours of TV OUT!? but who knows when thats going to come out.
Anyway I was going to drop my JasJam and switch to an iPhone when they landed with 3G, which is a big deal considering how much i use my keyboard. Now with these recent HTC offerings.. why would i want an iPhone?? Is anyone else gonna jump all over these when they get here?

The Diamond looks quite nice, the TouchFlo 3D does look fantastic! When I buy the X1, I hope someone will port it I need a keyboard, so unless Raphael can keep up with the X1, SE is getting my money this year. Still TouchFlo combined with Opera Mobile 9.5 does tip the scales heavily in HTC's favour. They're really done well. |

The Touch Diamond is showing up all over eBay at the moment, and there's a few online sellers stocking it now. Be prepared to part with $950+ though boys. Sure does look nice. If it had SD expansion capability I'd be all over it! Kevin |

The HTC Diamond phones currently on ebay are all imported from the UK, Hong Kong, or elsewhere as the Australian model is yet to be released. While the difference may only be the type of plug on the power adapter, I'm just a little cautious about leaping in too early after all the pain I went through with my O2 Atom but damn - the diamond looks fantastic. If the 3G IPhone is released as expected in a week or so here in Australia, then the price of the Diamond might come under a little pressure. FYI, the diamond is being sold in Taiwan under the name "Victor" with a different case and I wouldn't be surprised to see it come out in a few other forms. Presumably, it won't be too long before a 8Gb model (with all the early bugs resolved) surfaces. If only I can excercise enough self control to hold off. |
