not shure if the two devices are identical, but if you have flashed the wrong rom into your airis , it-s gonna stay dead... try to find out more about the jtag pinout... |

The Airis N509 looks pretty identical to my Yakumo Delta 300 GPS.

well actually, i kinda *beeep*ed up my mio339 (medion 40600) because it looked identical to mio168  now i've found somenone with an identical unit but with broken lcd... hope i can make a trade, or mabye i can rewrite the rom... BUT... anyone has the jtag pinout for 339?  |

My ROM version is 168FRAR22D. I suppose that your is newer.

I have a two or three years old Mio168 which is running Chinese Windows first edition.
Can i use the Second Edition English rom? will the gps work?

Hello erv2,
Someone else asked for a Chinese ROM version recently.
I suggest you make a backup copy of your current ROM using osloader-1.5.6.exe.
ftp://ftp.handhelds.org/distributions/compaq/ipaq/v0.30/osloader-1.5.6.exe
Use menu Tools, Flash, 32MB Save to files..
It saves 4MB chunks named flash_00000000.bin etc. in the root directory.
Move the chunks to PC with ActiveSync as needed for space.
Open a command prompt on the PC.
Enter this command on a single line in the directory you placed the files:
copy /B flash_00000000.bin + flash_00400000.bin + flash_00800000.bin + flash_00c00000.bin + flash_01000000.bin + flash_01400000.bin + flash_01800000.bin + flash_01c00000.bin WinCeImg.bin
WinCeImg.bin should now be exactly 33554432 bytes = 32768 KB = 32 MB.
Zip WinCeImg.bin with a nice name and make it available for dowload. www.rapidshare.de is a good place.
Then we can have a look into the ROM and see which version of the upgrade tool it has. If it is 'Upgrade Tool V1.1' it is likely to be replacable by other versions with 'Upgrade Tool V1.1' or 'Mio168RS UT R0.5' or what do you others believe?

I try to update rom with English ROM wince2003se for MIO 168 several minutes ago
and as a result i`ve a white screen PocketPC now.... :\
Can you help me guys?
What i need to do to reanimate my DeltaX?!
Is it possible to flash ROM with USB connection? (FlashROM Upgrade/0=CE By USB) |

I didn't know it's going to take that long, but anyway, i manage to backup my ROM, it's a Traditional Chinese Windows first edition ROM for Mio 168.

Just saved MiO Rom from 168WWE using OSLoader 1.5.6 and update a German 168 with this Rom. It has now also WWE Rom. Perfect !!
But tried to do the same with MiO 339 and OSLoader 1.5.6. Unfortunately only get errors when it is writing the first chunk of 4MB.
Is there another version of OSLoader or do I need to change some settings here? |

i tried to hold the joystick down while i turned on my Mio 168, it says "update tool 1.1"
can i use the Windows SE rom for update tool 1.1 to flash my Mio 168, is it going to work? |

? Windows Mobile is one variant of Win CE. Upgrading a Windows CE ROM is like changing windows version AND bios on a desktop pc. The ROM to update with has to be suitable for the hardware. I.e. for identical hardware. There are mainly two reasons to do this. Either change the language version or change from Windows Mobile 2003 to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition with optional landscape screen orientation.

Yes, your Upgrade Tool is V1.1, ROM version 168CHTHKR16, release version HKR16P02, Build version 13100, date 2003/12/08, the earliest version I have seen. I think you can upgrade with Mio168_Image_WWE_R22P02.bin or OS_LOADER_dump_MIO168RS.zip for Second Edition.

But seeing all posts about failed upgrades even with versions that should work, I make no guarantees.

I think your Airis cannot be saved the software way. Reading this thread from the start, I think you have to send it for repair. Don't count on someone helping you with jtag. It's too much work to do it cheap.

You need to buy an SDIO Wifi card otherwise the 168 has no option other than USB Active synch docking to connect to the internet. |

The error message is:
Contents of virtual address and physical address don't match. Ύx80000000] =0xA0000000 Ύx48000000] =0xE3A000D3
After that:
An error occured while saving 0x00400000 bytes of flash at address 0x00000000 to file flash_00000000.bin.
Do you wish to continue?
It saves the first 4MB with no contents, then later continues with the 2nd chunk and this is 4MB also 3rd etc. So, only the 1st chunk of 4MB is a mismatch in addressing.
Seems that OSLoader cannot handle the 32MB Rom layout in the MiO339.
If any other safe way to save this Rom, is also ok for me.
Just was happy with OSLoader, because it works 100%
