I have sad news on my Tomtom One. Its my pride and joy, but the SD card will no longer stay in place, it keeps popping out. Temporary solution is to use toothpick to kind of hold it in, but very temporary.

I logged on to the Tomtom web site and can't find where to call or drop the Tomtom in for repair. Any hints on how to get it fixed? It is still under warranty

Many thanks for any advice.

I would be contacting TomTom Support on (02) 8875 1700.

I'm sure Fred S will have a more detailed answer though. In the meantime this is what TomTom website says:

Question
How do I get my TomTom product repaired ?

Answer
Please contact our Customer Support by e-mail or phone, they will help troubleshoot.
If a repair is necessary TomTom Customer Support can arrange this for your product.

You will receive a repair or replacement of your product; this usually takes 5 to 10 working days after receipt of your defective product at our TomTom repair centre.

Via your TomTom account My Repair & Service you can manage your contact details and shipping information for returned goods and follow the status of your requests for service and repair.

errr

that's about as detailed as I could do it - thanks TrentL

You could also try taking it back to the place of purchase - if it was a shop front like HN or DS

My experience with shop-fronts (with other consumer items eg mobil phones) is that they flick you straight to the repair centres!

I still go to the vendor because they are the people with whom I have my legal contract of sale (consumer rights) and it makes them pay the postage and etc. as well. Unless I have some form of extended warranty which overrides this I always use the vendor because I can make their life hell in person if they don't sort things out - it has occasionally resulted in a replacement being issued rather than waiting for the repair.

This is my main reason for very rarely buying over the phone or net - a hand round the throat is much better than a hand round the phone!

Look here for my articles and hardware & software that I recommend.

The Doomsday Clock - It's five minutes to midnight - think about it... do something about it!

Psion II CM -> Psion II XP -> Psion II LZ -> Psion 3 -> Psion 5 -> O2 Xda II -> O2 Xda IIi -> Psion 5 -> O2 Xda II + Nokia 3310 -> Dell Inspiron 9400 running Ubuntu + Nokia 6234 (no more Windows Mobile for me!)

My new device is Linux based and it doesn't include a camera, a phone or an MS operating system! Oh, and I also have a Topfield PVRt, a TomTom ONE and a Wii - all of which also use nice, stable Linux... luxury!

I've already posted about this but in my experience TomTom service is slow (eight weeks) for a loose usb connection and even then the problem returned after a day. The repair docket simple stated 'repaired' in the space marked for work required.

If it's a minor prob I'd look at getting it done yourself.
