Very annoyed at the moment as I have just found out that my company is now planning to migrate away from Netware/NDS/Zenworks to a Microsoft 2003/AD/SMS/XP solution. It wouldn't bother me so much if it was a technical decision made in conjunction with the people who support the current environment (ie ME!!! ). But the change was decided upon by management who hired some muppet from another company to come in and tell them what they wanted to hear. All of which in a financial year where we are supposed to be slashing our budgets. AARGH - it makes no sense but what can you do?

It's funny how the braindead rise to the top in large companies - I guess it's the lack of weight holding them down!

Obviously somebody had the ROI charts out .. err .. depends on how much you've already invested though, but that's almost never looked at

Thanks for the sympathy Matt - at least it gives me a chance to do some AD stuff which I haven't been exposed to before. Adapting to new technology is the life of an IT person after all

True true. You can always keep your hand in Novell though - run a little Novell network in a Virtual PC or something
