Matt M gets excited about what looks even more like an official preview ...

Our friends over at Pocket PC Thoughts pointed us in the direction of a very cool article at PocketPC Italia, which appears to claim that they have a semi-official preview of the Windows Mobile 2003 based hp iPAQ h6300 (or whatever model number it will be) Pocket PC Phone. Smartfone.net previously published a photo of the device, and these new photos appear to be very similar - albeit without the detachable thumb keyboard.

Pocket PC Thoughts have translated the specifications from the Italian site, and they are as follows:

  • Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition OS
  • Texas Instruments OMAP 1510 CPU
  • 64 MB RAM / 64 MB ROM
  • 3.5" transflective display
  • SDIO slot
  • GSM/GPRS, quad-band 850/900/1800/1900
  • Bluetooth 1.1
  • 802.11b WiFi
  • 1800 mAH removable battery
  • IrDA and USB
  • Removable flip cover
  • 11.7 cm x 7.4 cm x 1.8 cm
  • 185 grams

The removable flip cover sounds very interesting, and it's great to have the dimensions. It seems that they expect to have further images in the next few days, so we'll look forward to that.

All in all, I remain very excited about this phone and I'm almost tempted to place an order in advance!
